Thank you for choosing the Creatr HS/HS XL/HS Lite for your printing needs.


In the following solution you will be instructed on how to update the firmware on your Creatr HS, Creatr HS XL, or your Creatr HS Lite.

 

!ATTENTION! Before attempting to update the firmware remove the side panels and have a look at the electronic motherboard and check if the board matches the one in the picture below:

If you have a board like the one below the firmware update IS NOT NEEDED. If you try to install the firmware it will render the printer INOPERATIVE.  




Tools:

  • USB memory stick.
  • Make sure your Creatr HS Stand-Alone is running 1.4.2 or higher. YOU MUST HAVE THIS SOFTWARE INSTALLED FIRST. Not sure? Select the information button on your Stand-Alone display:
    The information provided here will tell you which version of Stand-Alone software you have:

The Stand-Alone software is universal for all of the Creatr HS series models. However, each printer model has a specific firmware; please make sure that you download the correct firmware related to the printer model that you own.


To flash the firmware, do the following:


Download the appropriate .HEX file for your print model attached to the bottom of this page and save it to a USB stick: 

NOTE: Some PC/laptops will save the .hex file as some other extension (.txt, .stl, etc.). When you download the file, please make sure that you verify that the file extension is .hex before saving it to a USB stick.If the problem persists, right-clicking on the above link, choosing "Save link as..." and select "All Files" from the "Save as Type":

 

Turn on the printer, and wait for the screen to reach the main menu.

Place the USB in the front panel of the printer and select the USB stick as you can see in the picture below:


Next, select the “CreatrHS_Firmware_2.5.hex” and load it to the printer:


The screen will show "Updating PCB...". When finished, it will show "Update successful; restarting". Press the button to go back the main menu. 



Reboot the machine and check the Information menu to ensure that the firmware was flashed.

Congratulations! The new Creatr HS firmware is installed!

 Additional Notes


If this is your first time flashing to firmware version 2.1 or higher, you will need to set the extruder offset! Please check out this solution Set Extruder Offset for Your Creatr HS (M50)


***Please note that this new firmware will require slight changes in your print settings for whichever software program you use to slice your files to create g-code. Older .GCODE files will NOT yield the same results as before the firmware update.
