Hello and thank you for choosing the Creatr HS for your printing needs.


The following solution will instruct you on how to replace the Y stepper motor on your Leapfrog Creatr HS 3D printer.


NOTE: This article assumes that you have already done the necessary troubleshooting to determine that in fact that a Y-axis motor needs to be replaced. If you are not certain that this will resolve the issue (or have not been told to do so by Technical Support), we would hate for you to have wasted your time. Feel free to contact Leapfrog Technical Support first for some advice and tests that you can do to help determine if a Y-axis motor is actually needing to be replaced.

Tools:

  • a number 2, 2.5 and 4 Allen key

Steps for replacing the stepper motor:

Remove the left or right side panel depending on which stepper motor you need to replace ( both if you need to replace both the left & right stepper motor) and the back panel.


Disconnect the wires from the stepper motor (see Pic.1):

Now remove the stepper motor from the assembly by removing the two bolts shown in Pic.2 using the number 4 Allen key:

At this point remove the pulley from the shaft of the stepper motor by unbolting the two grub screws shown in Pic.3:

The last step is to remove the metal plate from the old stepper motor by removing the 4 screws you see in Pic.4:

Now take the new stepper motor and put everything back together by following the steps presented in reverse order.



Start printing to see if the issue is resolved.
